The Project:

20th century Fox and Modern Family commissioned us to find out exactly what constitutes a modern family and modern family life. The survey was commissioned to coincide with the release of Modern Family series 3 in the UK and would be used as part of their promotion campaign.

Our Approach:

Most people consider their family to be pretty ‘normal’ so we ran a survey to find out exactly what ‘normal’ means. The survey asked a panel of 2000 families questions including how much time is spent watching TV, what the main arguments were and various economic questions.

The Results:

The survey found that the average modern family is a 4 person family with an average household income of $63,646. They watch an average of 5 hours and 14 minutes of television and have 6 devices per family. The story was given the title ‘The Profile of a Modern Family’ and our in-house design team also created an infographic of the key data in order to present the results in a visually dynamic way across the media. The story and infographic generated extensive media coverage featuring on sites such as Mashable, IMDB, Yahoo, AOL and the MailOnline and Visual.ly.
